December
17, 3:00 pm we departed New Orleans with 48 hours to make it Allentown,
Pennsylvania so I could pick up my mom, as promised. We had a lot of
ground to cover. Any plans for impulsive stops along the route so we
could take in any sights that peaked our interest went out the
window...they would have to wait for the next road trip.
The
upside of so much road time was that it enabled us to discuss, research
and then draft a rough outline for our next trip in advance of speaking
with the travel agent would would help us book our multi-country,
multi-continent itinerary.
Jon
and I said goodbye and parted ways with a promise to speak over the
next couple of days to finalize our Australia, Far East and South Africa
trip. And get this....I even made the deadline to pick up my mom. I
walked in the door and the receptionist said, "You must be Nadia.
Perfect timing, your mom just woke up from her procedure."
I
had 48 hours to enjoy the comforts of home before heading back to
California to celebrate the Christmas holiday; via plane this time. It
never ceases to amaze me though, no matter how long I am away from
home...the moment I walk through the door, it feels like I never left.
But then again, that is how a home should make you feel.
After
clearing security at Philadelphia airport, I jumped on a conference
call with Jon and the travel agent to review the near-final itinerary
for our trip. After a little back and forth the plans were finalized and
it was just left to Jon and me to submit the final confirmation (aka-
show them the money). Moments before the cabin door was secured for take
off, I hit the send button on my confirmation form and signed up for
another adventure in this operation live life experience.
Celebrating
Christmas with my family was wonderful, there's something about seeing
the excitement of children who still believe in Santa that just rights
everything in this world.
I
arrived home from California the day after Christmas with 72 hours to
pack and get things in order before setting out on my next trip -
Colombia.
The boys, Mom and Me acting our best Christmas Eve silly.
